Biography

Alastair Greig is a composer based in London. His music has been performed in venues throughout the UK, Poland, Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, Switzerland, Ireland, Australia and the USA. Performers of his music include Rolf Hind, Peter O’Hagan, Singcircle, Gregory Rose, Sakari Oramo, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Daniel Barrett, Linda Wetherill, Francois Veilhan, Uroborus Ensemble, The Britten Sinfonia, Interensemble, Virelai, Lucja Szablewska, Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, Cantus Ensemble Zagreb, Maciej Żółtowski,Sydney Contemporary Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra and the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Alastair first studied composition with Oliver Knussen, then at The Royal Academy of Music, The University of Sussex and The University of Birmingham where his PhD was supervised by Vic Hoyland. He has worked with a number of composers including Hans Werner Henze, Dame Judith Weir, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Giacomo Manzoni, Klaus Huber, Fernando Maglia, Dominique LeMaitre and Michael Finnissy.
